The WildHeart Foundation is a small nonprofit that improves the lives of wild animals in captivity. We send toys to zoo animals all over the world.
To reduce our costs and increase how often we send toys out, we are looking to design new toys. These will be die-cut from durable fiberboard and folded into shape. The design of fiberboard will allow us to ship these flatpack, where they will then be assembled by zookeepers and given to animals.
We are looking to start with two designs: A zebra (with pattern printed on the fiberboard), the zebra should stand about two feet tall, and will function similarly to a pinata. Zookeepers can stuff this will food or browse for the animals. The second design will be similar to a dodecahedron, and should be designed to be to have reinforcement on the inside of the final shape to be as durable as possible.
While these toys may be easily destroyed by the animals who play with them, it will be a fraction of the cost of current "indestructible" toys. Destroying something is also a form of enrichment for zoo animals, and will provide them with an outlet for mental stimulation.
Please contact me with estimated cost of designing these. We are a 501(c)3 organization, so any discounts in services will be tax deductible.
