Sage Road Games is seeking a Lead 3D Model Designer for Sun Never Sets, an upcoming turn-based historical strategy game with an epic scale that's free to play in your browser (see https://sns.gg).
Sun Never Sets is in the early stages of development, but we have modest funding and a gameplay prototype.
To accommodate our modest budget and run smoothly in a browser while still offering a distinct visual style, we are pursuing a "tabletop" aesthetic — a computer game that looks like a board game.
As Lead 3D Model Designer, your job will be to design the initial batch of 3D models for cities, roads, and soldiers. These models will be very similar to those you'd produce for a board game: abstract, smooth, structurally sound if 3D printed, designed to have a single solid color instead of a detailed texture, and not rigged for animation.
The initial models you produce will establish the style for all the 3D models to be included in the game. You'd also have input in the overall design and visual style of other aspects of the game (terrain, UI, etc.) Continued hourly work beyond the initial models is possible depending on mutual interest.
An ideal candidate would have:
– Experience creating 3D models for computer and/or board games
– A portfolio demonstrating creativity and technical skills
– Knowledge of strategy games, computer or board
– Prototypes for 2-3 objects
– Draft model files for 6-10 objects
– Final model files for 6-10 objects
Sage Road Games is an indie game developer in Austin, TX. Sun Never Sets is our first game.
