I have approximately 37 .las point clouds that need to be aligned and merged to create one digital terrain model. Here are the objectives that must be completed for this project:
– Download all .las point clouds
– Align point clouds so that they are all on the same reference plane
– Merge the aligned point clouds
-Examine and clean the automatically classified ground points
– Use the ground classification points to create one digital terrain model with 0.5 meter resolution
Each dataset was collected using the same system: DJI Matrice 300 RTK drone + Base Station + Zenmuse L1 payload. However, there are slight elevation offsets between some of the datasets and therefore, the datasets needs to be aligned prior to merging. I’ve attached photos of the southern portion of the study area to highlight the offset in the point clouds and resulting offset in the digital terrain model. I’ve also attached a screenshot of the entire area.
Job Requirements:
We are looking for someone with experience creating seamless digital terrain models. We require someone that has experience aligning las point clouds that have a slight elevation offset. We also require that the individual has a machine that is capable of aligning and processing this very large dataset (1.1 TB).
