Your first project is going to be automating data extraction of certain classes of architectural elements from BIM models and converting the data to STL files for various applications. As soon as this automation project successfully completed, there are several related projects in line for the same skill set.
Project brief:
– Conduct analysis and review of BIM models to extract precise data related to walls, air ducts, and other critical elements.
– Automate data export, develop and implement a scalable exporting procedure that can be generalized across different projects and requirements, provide the accuracy, integrity, and optimization of both the extracted data and the final STL files.
– Provide updates on project progress, challenges encountered, and strategies employed to overcome them. Document the solution and the workflow.
– Innovate and suggest technological and procedural improvements to the data extraction and exportation workflow to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and product usability.
Requirements
– Extensive experience with Autodesk Navisworks API, Revit API, Dynamo, Bentley Systems, or similar, with a strong portfolio showcasing previous projects. Proven track record in data extraction, conversion, and optimization processes within complex BIM environments.
– Familiarity with programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automating BIM processes.
– Strong communication skills for effective collaboration, exceptional attention to detail, dedication to accuracy, and commitment to producing high-quality work
Good to have, but not required:
– Expert knowledge of 3D modeling, file formats (especially STL), and data optimization techniques for 3D printing and virtual reality applications.
– A master’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a closely related field is highly preferred.
